3.31.09 Update

The predicted snow storm arrived last night.  Snow accumulations were not that bad but the wind is a killer.  The college baseball team has a scheduled doubleheader today.  They might need to reschedule.

RI-1 DMAT continues to maintain the shelter at Jamestown College.  Our Friends from the Dept. of Veteran Affairs, OH-1, and OK-1 have been demobilized.  The CDC support staff have begun to demobilize any of their non-essential equipment.

Team members have begun ICS 400 training this morning and will conclude sometime tomorrow afternoon.

3.30.09 Update

RI-1 DMAT along with teams from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, OH-1, and OK-1 maintained the shelter at Jamestown College.  Members also completed the two day ICS 300 course run by Jeff Hutchinson and John Sutherland.

Jamestown College continued to show great hospitality in providing sleeping, washing, food, and exercise options for all of the members of the teams while still maintaining a fully academic calander.

3.30.09 Jamestown college

Internet access has been down at the college and was just fixed this morning.

Deployment update:

The field hospital/shelter was built and now we wait for business. The big blizzard predicted to hit yesterday was the equivalent to the big snowfall predictions we have in RI. Thus less than an inch fell. Below are pictures of the shelter.

Sarcasm health update

Batteries are fully charged.  Sarcasm levels at 200% and holding.  I guess needing to jump start the truck, this afternoon, while standing in a puddle of water has its benefits.

3.20.09: My semi-sarcastic state

According to the facebook app “how sarcastic are you”, I only managed to achieve the rank of “Semi-sarcastic”  today.  Could I be possible getting to old to be sarcastic?

I believe my sarcasm batteries are just low and in need of a recharge.  Hopefully Freddie stops by and I can get a recharge.

3.12.09- Today’s stupidity at my expense

When you order something a simple as a bagel and cream cheese, how can things possible go wrong. Unfortunately, it did today.  I have managed to find the dumbest person in RI.  As he handed the bag to me, I quickly noticed  the rather light weight of the bag was indicating a catastrophic failure in the simple algorithm listed below.

1.  place bagel in bag

2.  place cream cheese in bag

3.  hand to consumer

4.  take payment from consumer

The fine gentleman behind the counter skipped step 1.  Hard to believe but true.

Even better is that after solving his error with the “friendly and kind” help from me, it turned out that my purchase would  be free because he failed to give me a receipt.

Great start to the day…..
